When I am not fighting bad guys or helping others understand the digital world, I like using my technical skills to help others.  With over 30 years in the computer field from design to security, from small companies to international concerns, Victoria is a recognized expert for her practical methods of balancing security and business concerns.

Carrie McNeil

Carrie McNeil is one of the voices of The Digital Self Defense Academy Podcast and Blog. Carrie has been involved in the IT industry for over 25 years as an entrepreneur and small business owner. For the last 11 years, her business focus has been the Yucca Group, an IT consulting company in New Mexico, where she is the Owner/Operator.  Teaching clients about disaster recovery and more importantly disaster avoidance is one part of this industry.  Carrie’s first computer exposure was a TRS 80 Model III. She grew up surrounded by computers and technology in a time that it was uncommon to have a personal computer. Carrie was also being taught to be prepared, with food storage, emergency 72-hour kits and being as self-sufficient as possible as a youth. The Boy Scout motto of “Be Prepared” is often heard in her home as she and her husband and their children were involved in The Boy Scouts of America for many years.  She carries this preparedness mind set into the digital as well as the physical realm. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University and a Master of Arts from the University of New Mexico. Both degrees are in Special Education.
